About the Teacher

How blessed I am to be a teacher here at St. Francis of Assisi School! Ten years ago, when my daughter first stepped into her Pre-K C classroom, I quickly became well aware of the special community of learners, educators, and administration we had here at St. Francis. What I didn't know is that I would end up resuming my teaching career in this same wonderful community!

After receiving my Bachelor of Arts in English from University of California, Santa Barbara, my Masters in English Literature from Loyola Marymount University, and my teaching credential from Chapman University, I began teaching sixth grade in the Garden Grove Unified School District. It was while I was teaching that I met my husband, Bill (well, technically, I reconnected with him, as we had met years earlier while working together at Disneyland!) A couple of years later, my daughter, Hannah, arrived and I chose to stay home to raise her. Once she entered St. Francis, my job description was expanded to include "parent volunteer" -- a role I embraced, especially when those opportunities involved teaching. I taught Meet the Masters in her classroom every year since kindergarten, and piloted the Code.org program, teaching computer programming to her fourth-grade class. Eventually, volunteering led to subbing, and subbing led to where I am today!

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, dining out, going to Disneyland (once a Disney girl, always a Disney girl!), and hanging out at home with our big, goofy Labrador, Shilo, and our orange tabby cat, Whatnot.
