Volunteer

One of the hallmarks of our school is parent involvement.  We encourage parents to be part of the educational experience of their children by participating in the life of the school.  Parent involvement is necessary to offer the many academic and extracurricular activities and services provided by the school.  Moreover, it sends a strong message to children about the family's commitment to education and to service. St Francis of Assisi Catholic School welcomes the participation of parents. We believe that volunteers bring ideas, energy, and expertise.  They are an essential part of what makes our school great! Each individual has something to offer and something to gain. Participation in school activities will enrich your child’s experience, build personal connections with people that support your children, and deepen your appreciation for the gifts of faith-based education. Our success depends on your support!

There are many ways to get involved at St. Francis of Assisi School:

In the Classroom
Classroom teachers welcome the talents of volunteers as classroom assistants. Our volunteers might be found making copies, putting up bulletin boards, taking students to the library, working with children in small groups or assisting them in the computer lab, or even leading Meet the Masters Art activities.

On a Committee or Board
The Parent Advisory Board is comprised of parents who serve on committees that support school needs in critical areas including Catholic Identity, School Spirit, Marketing, Enrollment, Development, Fundraising, Finance, and Technology. These groups plan and execute a variety of activities and events.

Through School-wide Activities and Fundraising
Volunteering is a great way to get involved. Volunteers can also choose to help with fundraising and admissions activities, coaching a team, chaperoning field trips, helping in the health room, serving hot lunches, or assisting with school pictures and vision testing, along with other opportunities the school offers.

Signing up and Logging Volunteer Hours:
St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School uses Signup.com, an online sign-up, and reminder tool, to organize volunteer opportunities and facilitate the sign-up process.  To see a full list of volunteer positions please visit the site and submit your name in the categories in which you would like to participate.

Service given to the school helps all the students and keeps costs down. Each school family is required to complete twenty (20) volunteer “Family Service Hours” per year or pay a fee of $15.00 per hour. Families must log or track their service hours into FACTS SIS/Tuition by April 30 each year. On May 1st, all service hours logged will be applied to the following school year.

Volunteer Grants
Turn your volunteer service hours into a monetary donation for St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School.  Many companies reward their employees in this manner for doing good in the community.  Check with your employer to see if your volunteer hours can make a difference.

*All volunteers are required to complete a fingerprint clearance and online Safe Environment training (provided by the Diocese of Orange). Forms and information are available at the school office. Please allow up to 4 weeks to ensure your clearance is completed in time.

Additional clearance is required for volunteers who wish to chaperone events and/or transport students in their personal vehicles. Contact Mrs. Nieto in the school office at 714-695-3700 x 103 for more information.
