After reading the folktale called "Conquering Fear" on magazine pages 20-21, complete the activity. Remember to write complete, text evidence based answers to demonstrate understanding.

Complete the quiz by selecting the correct answer to each question after carefully reading each choice.
Choose 1 of the Constructed Response questions(either #7 or #8) to answer in a complete paragraph of 6-8 sentences. Type your paragraph on a Google document. You may find and use text evidence from the two "Fear" stories to further validate your constructed response.

Read the nonfiction article "Taming the Fear Monster" to learn about fear and how it can be overcoome on text pages 17-19 in Scope May edition. Remember to read all of the information on all text features: sidebars, captions. The bolded words may be found in the vocabulary section to hear and see the definition. ( It is important for your overall understanding to take the time to look up words you are not familiar with in the text!) Complete the Close Reading questions and submit for credit.

This week you will finish the book! As you finish reading the chapters and complete the Study Guide pages, think about the lessons Brian learned while in the Canadian wilderness. You will be sharing three lessons in an essay you will be writing later this week. Directions for this writing activity will be shared on Tuesday, May 12th at our morning Zoom time @ 8:30 a.m. Come to class on Tuesday with one lesson to share by writing the lesson large on paper to hold up and share/discuss. All students will be called on to share an important lesson. You will want to have paper and pencil to write notes as your classmates share! Zoom info will be shared in the STREAM tomorrow morning!
