READING HOMEWORK
Please be sure when completing the reading homework that your child colors the answers as specified in the text (story). One of the standards which will travel with your child throughout the school years is to find the evidence for his/her answer in what he/she is reading. Also, the passages are meant to help your child with fluency. That is why I want them to read it once each night. The more your child is exposed to reading emergent text, the more fluent reader he/she will become.

**Please note that the homework has changed. Now that the children can blend sounds into words, the homework will be a short reading and several comprehension questions. Please have your child read the story by him/herself with your support. Your child should read the story once on Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday. Each time the story is read, your child colors in one star at the top of the page. On Thursday, he/she completes the questions. Ask the questions and see if he/she can come up with the correct response. Guide him/her to put their answers where appropriate. This format may change in the next couple of weeks.***
