Fire and rescue reports assessing Canyon Fire 2 indicate that conditions are stable and improving. Based on this information, we will reopen school tomorrow, Wednesday, October 11. School operations will return to normal including extended care, after school sports activities, and enrichment classes. We will monitor air quality throughout the day and adjust outdoor activities if necessary. At this time, football and volleyball games will take place as scheduled. Families with student athletes will be notified if there are any changes to the sports schedule. In spite of the improving conditions and progress on the fire lines, we are aware that some St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School families are not able to return to their homes. Student absences under these circumstances will be excused. Students who are tardy due to transportation issues getting to and from school will also be excused. Please pray for St. Francis families and all families who suffered due to the fires in our area as well as the fires in Northern California.
We look forward to seeing you tomorrow. Be safe. God bless.
Due to the large number of St. Francis School families directly impacted by the Canyon Fire 2 and the significant effect on transportation systems in our area, St. Francis of Assisi School will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, October 10.
The safety of our students, staff, and parents is a commitment we take very seriously. School administration will continue to monitor the Canyon Fire 2 situation carefully. Further updates regarding the reopening of school will be provided as more information about the status of the fire becomes available.
Please keep in your prayers those who are impacted by the fires. Pray for their safety and well being. Pray for the moments of generosity and kindness. Pray for the firefighters and police who risk their lives to protect our lives and our property.
God bless. Be safe.
As a precautionary measure, school will be closing today, effective immediately. School, students, and staff are not in any danger. Again, this is a precautionary measure due to windy conditions and traffic getting to and from school. Please make arrangements to pick up your children following normal pick-up procedures. School staff will remain with every child until they are picked up.
