Athletic programs at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School strive to provide opportunities for students to participate in extra-curricular sports activities. We believe that involvement in school activities is an important part of a whole child education. Sports teams provide opportunities to:
Good sportsmanship, team spirit, knowledge of the sport, respect, responsibility, effort and learning how to accept victory and defeat with grace and dignity are emphasized in order to enable each child to know himself/herself and as a result, foster the development and expression of Christian values in everyday life.
Participation on an athletic team is a privilege that requires responsibility and commitment. Through participation on a team we hope to provide a rewarding experience that promotes personal growth, positive self-esteem, and rewarding peer relations.
St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School students in Grades 5-8 can try out for and participate in an array of sports. There are multiple teams within each sport in order to increase opportunities and allow multiple grade levels to participate. Our teams compete against other local Catholic schools, through the Parochial Athletic League of The Diocese of Orange. The league teaches students to recognize their strengths and limitations, the lessons of winning and losing, and respect for all involved: fellow players, opponents, coaches and officials. These life values aid boys and girls in their development toward adulthood.
